Hands Tantra Practice Energy Massage

By Goddess Lalita

Hands are two of the most magically recognized parts the body. As the late mathematician Bronowski quotes; “The hand is the cutting edge of the mind.” Some would also believe that it is the messenger for the heart and the soul.  If you think of it, the principals of Tantric healing are present within them. One is the giver, the other the receiver and they are connected by ourselves-our brain, our Will, and our body. We flow energy through them and allow them to work together as our Will projects them to.

There are different theories regarding the energy flow of our hands. Asian theories specify that the right hand is yang (giving) and left is yin (receiving). The Lewellyn Encyclopedia‘s definition of the “receptive” and “projective” hands differ based on which is dominant and non-dominant of the individual. Regardless of what theory we most resonate with, the point I make here is that just like Tantric study and practice of balancing polarities-the use of hands is a physical manifestation of this process. We can use one hand at a time when completing tasks and it works, but when we use both appendages of this nature, it can make things easier. We may balance more, carry more weight and/or withstand more pressure. If one carefully assesses their intention for studying the practical application of Tantric healing, they could see the symbolic connection. Why do we begin our study? We want to learn, how to manage and balance our energy within so that we can be our best selves in the world and attain our goals as efficiently possible.

We can experience the flow of energy through our hands by engaging in exercises that allow us to feel “giving” and “receiving” attributes. A very simple exercise is to rub your hands together and then hold them a few inches apart palms facing each other. This allows you to feel the energy you create from this motion. There are also ways to feel the difference between giving and receiving. An example of this is when we console others by  placing the “giving” hand on their back, as to allow them to feel support flowing through the palms. A way to experience receiving energy is to place this hand on something that is living, a partner, child or perhaps a pet and then take that same hand and feel the air. Take note of the differences.

One does not have to be an energy worker to appreciate the hands as they are here work with us. They are also not something to take for granted as they fulfill many functions. A general appreciation will no doubt grant you the understanding one can accomplish through intentional use of them.
